Behind the Brand: How I Built EyeConnect Crafts & Turned Art into a Business
When I first started designing what would become EyeConnect Crafts, I wasn’t setting out to invent an entirely new kind of art kit. I was simply a designer, an artist, and a mom searching for a crafts that my sons would actually like.
That spark led me to experiment with paper engineering, storytelling, and design—and eventually to invent the 3D Tunnel Book, a DIY art kit that lets makers of all ages “pop-IN” to their imagination. What began as a studio experiment turned into a full-fledged business: one that now supplies museum stores, toy shops, and bookstores across the country.
Building EyeConnect Crafts has been a masterclass in design, invention, and entrepreneurship—from learning about production and packaging to negotiating wholesale pricing and distribution. Along the way, I’ve discovered what it truly takes to turn art into a sustainable business while staying true to creativity, play, and environmental values.
In this category, I’ll share the behind-the-scenes stories, lessons, and insights I’ve learned on this journey—from prototyping my first Tunnel Book to growing a nationally distributed creative brand. Whether you’re an artist, designer, or aspiring entrepreneur, I hope my experiences inspire you to build your own bridge between art and opportunity.
